In 2004, Monaco came close to winning the Uefa champions league title against fc Porto during the finals in a game that ended 3-0 with Monaco attributing the loss captain's Ludovic Giuly injury in the first half.

With such a good financial backing, As many Monaco fc made their way back to ligue 1 and hence winning 2016-17 ligue 1 title in 17 years.
Since then, Monaco's position in ligue 1 has been quite impressive and without a doubt one of the top ranked teams/club in French football.
Founded in 1919, As Monaco fc spent more than two decades playing in semi professional regional divisions and in 1933, Monaco was invited by the French football federation FFF to turn professional.
trying to join ligue 1, Monaco couldn't match the competing teams proness until 1953 when they were promoted to the French top division also known as ligue 1 and in 1960, under coach Lucien Leduc, Monaco got their first professional trophy coupe de France after defeating Saint Etienne 4-2.
With its best moments in the late 70s and early 80s, fc Monaco brought home a trophy or two every year.
In the 1985-86 coupe de France finals, Monaco had their biggest win in club's history after hammering Bordeaux 9-0.
In the Late 80s, As Monaco experienced quite a barren period until the club acquired Arsene Wenger a man who led Monaco through their most successful period in clubs history.
With Wenger in charge, new players signing followed in a move to reconstruct the dream team Monaco fc.
Scouting for the best, among the world class pro players incorporated were George weah, Glen Hoddle, Jurgen Klinsmann, Youri Djorkaeff, Emanuel Petit, Lilian Thuran and Thiery Henry among others.
With Wenger and these pro players, Monaco fc became the force that had been missing and thus winning the league in 1988 and coupe de France in 1991.
With many Arsene Wenger ratings shooting over the ceiling as a world class coach, Bayern Munich shortlisted him for the managerial post in 1994 but Monaco's board blocked him.
Later in the year, Wenger was released and immediately he departed, Monaco had a rough period even though they recorded two more league championships in 1997 with Jean Tigana and in 2000 under Claude puel.
On 17th may 2017, Monaco won ligue 1 title after thrashing Saint Etienne 2-0.
In that season, Monaco set a record after going undefeated in the last 20 games drawing 2 and winning 18.
Later the following year in October 2018, the club hired their former pro player Thierry Henry as the coach but he was suspended in less than 100 days.
Though many speculated as to why Henry was fired linking it to him insulting the Strasbourg defender Kenny Lala, the club indeed expressed a huge level of dissatisfaction with Thierry Henry losing 15 games out of 20 as a coach in that short span of time.
Due to covid-19 pandemic, France ligue 1 was suspended on the 13th of march 2020 when Monaco was at position 9.
Until further notice, we wish As Monaco football club all the best in their future games.
