Football club de Nantes Atlantique also pronounced as Naunts in French is a professional football club based in Nantes city in France.

Founded in 1943 during the world war 2, Fc Nantes a.k.a Nantes was formed after a mutual agreement between several local clubs agreeing to join and create one pillar Nantes city club.

Competing in Ligue 1 the first division of French football, Nantes Fc is one of the best clubs in France with 8 Ligue 1 titles, one coupe de la Ligue and 3 coupe France cups.

Celebrating it's 78th birthday in 2021, football club de Nantes Atlantique finished 13th in the last 2019-20 French premier league championship otherwise known as France ligue 1 conforama uber eats cup.

From 1992-07 the club's official name was Nantes Atlantique before switching back to it's original name Fc Nantes in 2007-08 season's premiere.

With two good seasons, Nantes won ligue 1 title in 1994-95 and 2000-01 before everything going south in 2005 when they escaped relegation by a whisker after beating Metz 1-0 on the last day of the season.

Without a clear view, the ailing Nantes finished last in 2007 France Ligue 1 championship and were relegated to the second division of French football known as Ligue 2.

Fighting hard to go back to division 1, Nantes bounced back to Ligue 1 in 2008 but the victory was short lived. Finishing last in 2009, NFC was relegated back to ligue 2 where they spent the next 3 seasons.

Avoiding relegations by all means, Nantes gave it their best shot and they finished 13th on the table and to make it even better, they emerged 7th on 2016-17 Ligue 1 season.

Rising up the France Ligue 1 table, Fc Nantes had a better season in 2017-18 season when they finished 3rd right behind Paris saint Germain and As Monaco.

Playing their home games at stade de la Beaujoire also known as the stade de Nantes, the teams homeground has a capacity of 38,000.

Though Fc Nantes has not been performing impressively in the last seasons, the club has produced notable world class players such as Didier Deschamps, Marcel Desailly,Mickael Landreau,Christian Karembeu,Jeremy Toulan and Claude Makelele among others.

With the current coach Raymond Domenech, Fc Nantes hopes to capture the French premier league title which belonged to them two decades ago in 2000-01 season.
